What is Reiki?

The word Reiki (pronounced ray key, can be split into two words: Rei –meaning Universal Ki - meaning the vital force or energy within every living thing. Many cultures recognize and understand the importance of Ki and its effects on our health and well being. You may know it as Chi, or Prana.

Reiki is a form of hands on healing with its origins in India and the East, dating back many thousands of years.

Reiki is holistic, working on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels of existence.

Reiki is pure unconditional love and joy, bringing all who experience and embrace it together in harmony. Reiki is free from all religions, making it open to people from all walks of life.

Reiki Treatment

During a Reiki treatment you remain fully clothed. (Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended) . You will either recline comfortably on a massage table or be seated on a chair.

The Reiki healer places their hands on the recipient in various positions. Sometimes a non touching technique may be used where the hands are held just slightly above the body. The hands are usually kept still for 3 to 5 minutes before being moved to the next area. During the treatment, energy is channelled through the hands of the healer into the recipients energy field .

The hand positions generally cover the head, front and back of the torso, knees and feet. Treatments last usually from 45 to 60 minutes.

During a reiki treatment the recipient often feels warmth or tingling in the area being treated, even when using a non—touching approach. The most noticeable immediate effect of the treatment is a state of deep relaxation and a general feeling of well-being.

Reiki helps you feel at ease and is used for stress reduction, relaxation and symptom relief in order to improve overall health and well—being. Reiki is a very relaxing experience. Music is often used to enhance the relaxation further.

Reiki works effectively alongside other therapies and treatments.

Regular contact with Reiki will bring the recipients whole state of being into balance and help prevent future creation of illness or dis - ease.

Reiki and Animals

Reiki can also be successfully used on animals. They seem to love the Reiki energy and it is very beneficial to them. Treatments on animals are often shorter and the animal will usually wander off when they have had enough Reiki.
